Comcast Hit With Bias Suit From Transgender Ex-Employee

Law360, New York (September 7, 2016, 7:40 PM EDT) — A transgender woman filed suit against Comcast Inc. in Tennessee federal court on Tuesday, accusing the media giant of sex discrimination and retaliation for firing her after she returned from gender reassignment surgery.
The complaint, brought by former employee Jessica Brown, alleges gender discrimination and retaliation, according to court documents filed on Tuesday. Brown said that she was suspended after reporting harassment and fired when she returned to work from gender reassignment surgery because of her gender identity.“Comcast suspended Jessica and ultimately fired her because of her protected status as a woman or, alternatively, because of her non-conforming sexuality,” the complaint said. “Jessica suffered damages as a result of Comcast’s discrimination including lost wages, benefits as well as pain and suffering.”...visit the website for more…
